    Many people have contributed to the accomplishment of Harambee, but this celebration is especially for the many young men and women from our community who pursued a shared vision in the face of great skepticism and created something wonderful.

    The students of Douglass High School are beginning to make creative contributions to the Root Riot Harambee gardens. The signage was designed by student DeAngelo Mills. The “Peace” Flags, which signify a desire for peace in our community, adorn the fence.

    Our good works and reputation are spreading! On Friday,  July 30, Cook County Commissioner Earlean Collins and Frederick Douglass High School Principal Dr. Deborah Crump did a walkthrough tour of our garden.
