Voting for One Seed Chicago 2011 candidates, radish, eggplant and swiss chard, opened this weekend. Visit www.oneseedchicago.com to get more information about each plant, vote for your favorite and register to recieve a packet of the winning seed. Teachers can request a classroom size packet along with an educator guide.
“For the fourth year One Seed Chicago is uniting Chicago gardeners,” said Ben Helphand, NeighborSpace Executive Director. “By planting a common seed, backyards, windowsills, community gardens and balconies across the City will be linked together in a season-long celebration of urban gardening and local eating.”
This year One Seed Chicago will also partner with Chicago chefs, foodies and garden bloggers who will provide you with recipe ideas for each of the candidates. Starting next week, original recipes featuring the candidates will be posted on the web site. If you would like to participate by providing a recipe send an email to ramon@onseedchicago.com
April 1, 2011 will be the last day of voting and the winner will be announced at the annual Green and Growing Fair, April 30, 2011 at the Garfield Park Conservatory.
